It is a shame that the Forum is not getting much traffic. I used to be a member of the Wanganui branch, and would have liked to see who is still about that I remember.

I have put a film onto Youtube of the 1966 Annual Rally, and would like to share it with any members that are interested.

Part 1 is here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfeyPQ40y2A

Part 2 is here- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBiiTCz2eHw

I know that many of the participants are no longer with us, but their cars probably survive.

It is a pity that translating from Standard 8 mm film to digital and then to Youtube, loses a lot of definition. I'd be interested in any feedback about the film.

What a great couple of videos . . . So well thought through, produced and edited. Quite a couple of the best I've seen . . . so much so that I couldn't take my eyes of the screen for the whole duration. Not only were the old cars that were the main focus of the original film of great interest, but the contemporary cars in the background of the shots are presently very interesting too! It must be wonderful for those viewers who can recognise at least some of the folk in the frames . . .
I have sent the links off to several people who I know will be interested (Including folk in the UK who are coming out to NZ for a touring holiday!)
Congratulations . . .

Thanks for the comments, Leo. It makes the effort all worthwhile.

Some names that I can remember-

1913 Daimler- Bert Tonks (driver) Ran an upholstery business in Wanganui East.

1931 Model A Ford- Bill Duxfield. Wanganui

1920 Rover- driven by a relative of Len Southward. (Len usually attended our rallies himself)

Harley motorcycle combination- Andrew (Andy) Thompson (or maybe Thomson) of Palmerston North.

192? Armstrong Siddley- Ivan Kendall of Wanganui

1927(?) Buick coupe- Vic Caseley. Wanganui

Hispano Suiza- Can't remember his name, but ran a restaurant in Wanganui.

1913 Perry- Wattie Watkinson. Wanganui East.

Green car leaving Bushy Park, and being followed, owned by Duncan Gorrie, Marton

There are several others where I know the cars, but cannot remember the name of the owner, but I suppose after 40 + years it is to be expected.

I know that Wattie Watkinson died many years ago,as did Andy Thompson and Vic Caseley. Ivan Kendal is still about and so is Bill Duxfield.

Maybe some of the people who see the films will be able to identify other owners and perhaps the current owners of cars portrayed.
